Crystal Frink received her bachelor’s degree in History: Secondary Social Studies Education and graduated magna cum laude from Pembroke State University. She taught Civics and Economics, World and U.S. History, and Psychology-Sociology at East Columbus High School in Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina.
During her 25-year career she served as a mentor to teachers, peer evaluator, and department chair. She received certification in Advanced Placement Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and trained as a volunteer for the NC Guardian Ad Litem Program and Families First, Inc.
Frink has held membership with the Columbus County African American Heritage Society and County-wide Community Development Corporation; served on the Chadbourn Parks and Recreation Board, Columbus County Leadership Forum, Westside Cultural Development Organization, and Columbus County Concerned Citizens. She is a Trustee of First Missionary Baptist Church in Chadbourn and Program Committee Chair for the Westside High School Alumni Association, Inc.
Colene Kelly, the daughter of Westside High School alumni, Mr. Alexander and the late Reverend Phylisa F. Kelly, is a proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. She also attained a master’s in Public Administration from High Point University.
Kelly served as Assistant Director for Student Leadership, Training, and Development at North Carolina Central University before graduating from Campbell University with a master’s of divinity.
Kelly is the pastor of The LIFE Church of Chadbourn and previously served as an associate minister at First Missionary Baptist Church in Chadbourn where Reverend Virgil H. Reaves is the pastor.
She has served as Youth President for the Women’s Baptist Home Foreign and Missionary Convention of NC, with whom she is an active member, working in the areas of the youth department and as a camp counselor for many years.
In addition to pastoring, Kelly serves as the Career and College Promise Coordinator for Cape Fear Community College. She was elected in 2015 as a Council Member for the Town of Chadbourn, where she continues to serve.
